A Little About You
My name is Josh ‘Dues’ Duesterhaus, and I’m from Southern California. I have two boys and enjoy spending time with them, especially helping coach or watching them play sports.
How You Got Started
I’ve worn hats ever since I was little, my Mom says I had a collection as early as 5-6 years old, and have been a long time fan of the Dodgers. These two loves have combined to drive a passion for New Era 59Fifty caps, and today my collection is around 550, with about half being Dodger caps. I was just recently featured about my collection on Spectrum 1 News for the Dodgers big playoff push.
For Josh Duesterhaus, cap collecting is a game in itself. He has more than 500 New Era hats, and even though he has 266 #Dodgers hats, no two are the same.
Duesterhaus is not alone. Social media has shown he's anything but alone in his love for hats. https://t.co/Mn6wiRNXyT pic.twitter.com/HRLaAoiG78— Spectrum News 1 SoCal (@SpecNews1SoCal) October 16, 2020
Favorite Caps In Your Collection
I was blessed to design a Dodger cap with New Era, commemorating the 1988 World Series Champion Dodgers team, so that’s definitely one of my favorites because it’s personal to me and was a once in a lifetime experience. I have a sub-collection of New Era Dodgers on-field caps, a timeline showing each instance their cap underwent a change and each new special edition on-field. It starts in the mid-’70s and goes to present with a sample cap of the unreleased 2020 ASG on-field; this sub-collection contains 23 caps and is definitely a prized possession.
What It Would Mean To Win The UHC Contest.
It’s time for Dodger Baseball, caps!
It would be an honor to sit among the prior winners were I to be chosen this year. I have come to know them all over the years as fellow collectors and sports lovers like myself, but also as friends and integral parts of the cap community.
