LIDS stores and Lids.com carry all the top NFL player jerseys for the 2014 season.
Peyton Manning has long been one of the biggest names in the NFL. As one of the best quarterbacks in the league since his rookie season in 1998, it’s no surprise Peyton’s jersey is the best-selling in the league. A season after breaking the record for most touchdown passes, 55, and passing yards, 5,477, in a single season, Manning leads all players in overall jersey sales according to Lids.Of the top 10 players combining sales from all types of jerseys, six are quarterbacks. Manning, San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick, Seattle’s Russell Wilson, Cleveland’s Johnny Manziel, New England’s Tom Brady and Indianapolis’ Andrew Luck are the other quarterbacks to make the list. Manziel jersey sales were very strong immediately after he was drafted and have remained high enough to stay among the top 10 even though he has thrown just one pass this season. In fact, Manziel’s brown Game jersey is the top-selling single jersey in the league. Kaepernick’s spot as the second best seller is aided by women’s jersey sales. The red women’s Kaepernick Game jersey is fourth overall best-selling jersey. Russell Wilson’s womens jersey is also among the top 10 best sellers at No. 8 and the Wilson youth jersey is best-selling at No. 12, but Wilson’s men’s Game jersey is just the 20th best-selling. Along with teammate Richard Sherman, the Seattle Seahawks are the only team with two players in the overall top 10. Even during the course of a shaky season following last year’s Super Bowl victory, the Seahawks remain the best-selling team for NFL apparel. Their rival San Francisco 49ers are No. 2, while the still nationally popular Dallas Cowboys are No. 3.
Dallas is the home for the highest non-quarterback seller, wide receiver Dez Bryant. Somewhat surprisingly Bryant and tight end Jason Witten (No. 17 overall) outsell Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (No. 20).The Dallas offense has been clicking this season, but in Houston it’s been all about the defense behind J.J. Watt. As the top defensive player in the league, and one of the few star players in a market as big as Houston, it’s easy to see how he is the best-selling defensive player overall.
