High School Seniors #Declare with Top of the World

Spring is the season for students to declare which college they will call home in the years ahead, and Top of the World is here to help them spread the word – with a few extra incentives. This is the third year for the Declaration Days program, which will award three scholarships valued at $5,000, $1,000 and $500. In addition to scholarships, a class hat and T-shirt will be given to the school with the most declarations.

Ava Whitson took home the $5,000 scholarship in 2017 after declaring the University of Cincinnati.

“Winning the scholarship was a huge weight off my shoulders,” said Whitson. “I didn’t have to worry about costs, and I was able to just enjoy my time here and focus on what I love.”

Declaration Days began in 2015 and has since flourished into an annual marketing campaign that partners with colleges and universities across the country. To declare their school, students visit www.declarationdays.com, fill out their information, including which school they are declaring, upload a selfie with a graphic of their school and the Declaration Days logo and post their declaration to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, then they are entered to win one of three scholarships.

A lot of planning goes into making Declaration Days fun, easy and convenient for schools and students alike. Modeled after National Signing Day, Declaration Days allows every high school senior to declare one of the biggest moments of their lives with their family, friends and community through social media.

“As a former college student who paid for her college tuition, I love the opportunity and pleasure to be a part of a program that can offer three scholarships,” said Whitney Segraves, Top of the World Senior Marketing Retail + Partner Specialist.

An estimated 11,000-plus high school seniors have already declared their future school, and even more will declare before the May 1 deadline. Follow the #DeclarationDays hashtag on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to see those declarations. Some students have used their creative juices to post unique declarations. One student, attending Florida State in the fall, uploaded a declaration video featuring a handful of schools he was considering before he unveiled his top choice. Other students have used throwback photos, senior photos and even photos of their pets to declare their future school.

The University of Oklahoma and Florida State University have been battling the past two weeks for title of university with the most declarations. Weekly rankings of the top ten schools are released on Top of the World’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, @towcaps.
