All Hail The King: Jackie Robinson Day 2018
Though one day cannot capture the importance of an iconic baseball player like Jackie Robinson, MLB has made it an annual tradition to celebrate his legacy with a league-wide event. Each year we remember and honor the day Jackie Robinson made his Major League debut on April 15, 1947, becoming the first black MLB player since 1880. Robinson broke the baseball color barrier by starting his career with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson’s jersey was retired in 1997 and ever since 2009, on the anniversary of this historic event, all players, managers, coaches and umpires wear Jackie Robinson’s No. 42 on “Jackie Robinson Day.” This year, a special #42 patch will be added to all on-field hats and jerseys.
Jackie Robinson’s career brought an end to nearly six decades of segregation in professional baseball. Honor the king on April 15th with the official New Era On-Field Cap with a commemorative Jackie Robinson patch. You can find the Jackie Robinson MLB 2018 59FIFTY Cap Collection here. Complete the look with Jackie Robinson MLB jerseys and apparel.
