Nowadays just about everyone is rockin The Worlds Famous New Era Authentic Collection. The Bayou Bengals of LSU! That's right, LSU pulled off their first win in the College World Series best of three championship series to put them ahead of Texas 1-0. The Tigers slid by the Longhorns 7-6 in the 11th inning to win game one. CF Mikie Mahtook drove in the winning run in the 11th inning. LSU reliever Matty Ott recorded the win for LSU after pitching three innings of hitless relief, while Texas reliever Brandon Workman took the loss. Tonight's game could potentially be the final game of the 2009 College World Series if the Tigers can get another win.
Last night's game was the third game of the 2009 College World Series to go into extra innings since the teams have reached Omaha, but was far shorter than the CWS' longest game by innings (15 innings for both Michigan/Santa Clara in 1962 and Southern Cal/Florida State in 1970) and the longest game by time (3 hours and 59 minutes for Southern Cal/Arizona in 1998). Texas, however, is used to playing long games as they hold the record for the longest game in NCAA history beating Boston College 3-2 in 25 innings (7 hours, 3 minutes) on May 30-31, 2009. Yes...the game began on Saturday and ended on Sunday!
Game 2 of the series will be played tonight at 7 p.m. EST and can be found on ESPN. If you're in Omaha, be sure to stop by one of our temporary LIDS locations on 13th Street near Rosenblatt Stadium and say hello. Good luck to both teams!
If you've ever been to Times Square in NYC you're familiar with the bumper to bumper traffic and wall to wall people that characterizes this highly touristy area. Last month, as part of an initiative for the Big Apple to be more green, the city did something very interesting. Traffic in the streets was replaced with lawn chairs making the other side of the street much more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists. That's right, instead of cars and buses, you can take a load off right in the street in the heart of the city.

What does this mean for us? Easier access to our two LIDS stores in the area because you no longer have to worry about traffic when crossing the street. If you happen to live near Times Square or simply visiting, be sure to check out either location. The LIDS on 42nd Street has one of the best selections of headwear in the world!

I was given the nickname "First Lady of the Hat Game" (First Lady for short) by one of our sales reps because I was the first female buyer here at HW & L! I am responsible for buying all of our blank and private label hats. A few years back we decided to really focus on building our private label program and it has grown each year since. It has been successful not only because of its competitive price points, but mainly because it offers our customers something a little different...fashion sihouettes! We have a great selection of fedoras, ivys, and militarys which are really driving the category right now. This is partly because celebrities such as Brad Pitt are rarely seen not wearing some sort of fashion headwear...even his son Knox is into them!
